Man I’m tired. Weekdays are hellish for me. A few snippets and epiphanies:
Bentley released its new Marketing program (outsourced, of course– they’re smart enough to farm out “actual” marketing since the native department is so crummy). One interesting thing though– the centerfold page 2-3 ad on Time magazine has Tony Buono in the front exhalting the ethics program at Bentley. This is the guy who, at a lecture, said something to effect of “you have to think things through if you’re thinking about whistleblowing, because you might end up living in a cardboard box in the Common.” Oh precious!
I love my job.
Bush’s website has been blocked off for non-US/Canadian users. That’s hilarious. I mean, for one because they think everyone else in the world hates them (can we blame them though?) and another one because they think Canadians are harmless. Oh, and on a technical curiosity– I couldn’t access the site from my job– upon further investigation, SAP’s network is registered at a German DNS, so as far the Bush site is concerned, I’m German, even though my packets come from HQ in Newtown Square, PA.
Love my job–hate my laptop.
Anyone’s seen that HP commercial with Baba O’Reilly by The Who on the background? That’s one of the best commercials I’ve ever seen–right up there with Apple’s 1984. Of course I’m the lone nut who thinks so… but I just loved it.
Speaking of ads, SAP has a series of “XXX runs SAP” poster, showing different companies who run SAP software. The LEGO one says “LEGO Company runs SAP”. I found it hysterical. The name of the LEGO company is actually LEGO group, but one of the good folks at Global Marketing thought that “LEGO runs SAP” would imply an application for a multi-million dollar ERP system to work with colorful interconnecting plastic things. This how you know that they’re from Germany– if they were in Britain (god save British humor), they would’ve left it.
Varsity sport at my sister’s new all-female High School in Nebraska: Trapshooting. I guess there’s nothing more feminine in Nebraska than 15-year olds firing 12-gauge shotguns at flying discs. Rock on.
